When Maggots Ate My Leg… But God Ate My Pain
_A story of a wound, a verdict, and a healing hand_
I never thought I’d write these words: _maggots were coming out of my leg._
Months ago, I was on a construction site like any other day. A hammer slipped. It landed hard on my foot. I brushed it off. “Just a bruise,” I told myself. I kept working.
A few days later, the spot caved in. My leg started swelling. Fast. By the time I got to the hospital, the doctors were trying everything. But the wound wouldn’t close. Pus kept coming. The flesh kept rotting. Then the unthinkable started — maggots.
The pain was unbearable. I couldn’t walk. I couldn’t sleep. The stench pushed everyone away. Friends stopped visiting. The doctors gave me the final verdict: _amputation_. They said it was the only way to save my life.
My own hope started to rot faster than my leg.
I wanted to die! Looking at a leg that used to carry me, now decaying in front of my eyes, broke me. I called my sister with the last bit of hope I had. I told her how alone I felt. How hopeless it was.
Her answer was simple: “The only solution now is God.”
That’s when I came seeking the Almighty — the invisible healing hand that doctors can’t put on a prescription.
Bro. Ronnie Makabai prayed for me.
I can’t explain it medically. I can only tell you what happened.
From that moment, the pain left. The rotting stopped. The maggots were gone. I started walking again. Today, my leg is whole. Healthy. Restored.
Doctors did their part. I’m grateful for medicine and for the hands that tried to save me. But God is the Creator. And my healing proved to me that he alone knows the original design. And He can restore all of us back to it.
This is my testimony: Don’t give up before you give God a chance. When man reaches the end of his options, that’s where God begins His work.
“I am the Lord, who heals you.” – Exodus 15:26”
If you’re reading this and your own “leg” is rotting — maybe it’s not physical. Maybe it’s a broken marriage, an addiction, debt, depression, a diagnosis that stole your hope. You feel isolated. You feel like amputation is your only option. You feel like your situation is beyond repair?
What did you do when hope ran out? Drop your story in the comments. You’re not alone.
The Jesus Bro. Ronnie serves is still healing. Still restoring. Still making broken things whole.
