The story of Christianity in Uganda is one of remarkable transformation and enduring faith. Arriving relatively late in 1877 with missionaries at the court of Kabaka Muteesa 1, Christianity swiftly became one of Africa’s most successful mission fields. The new faith faced resistance, clashing with traditional worship practices and being seen as a political threat, which led to the persecution and martyrdom of many early believers, including missionaries like Bishop Hannington.
Every year on June 3rd, Uganda commemorates the sacrifice of the martyrs who gave their lives for their faith in 1886 at Namugongo. In the year 2024, in a spirit of remembrance and repentance, Holy City Entebbe, under the leadership of Bro. Ronnie Makabai, held a National Repentance Night to atone for the sins of the nation, particularly addressing the widespread practice of witchcraft, which is seen as the root of many evils in the country.
Walk of Faith
The series of events leading up to the grand night began on June 1st, 2024, with the Walk of Faith in Kampala, Uganda’s capital. Led by the Uganda Police Band, believers matched through the city streets, urging fellow Ugandans to repent and denounce witchcraft. A helicopter adorned with the words “Uganda Repent” hovered above the skyline, serving as a powerful symbol and call for national repentance.
Run of Faith
On the morning of June 2nd, believers participated in the Run of Faith, a race to Holy City Entebbe. This event symbolized their commitment and dedication to being part of the national repentance night. The run not only highlighted their physical endurance but also their spiritual fervor.
Night of Repentance
The glory of God was displayed at Holy City Entebbe as the Night of Repentance saw multitudes flocking to Holy City from across the globe.

Faith-affirming testimonies: children were declared cancer-free, testimonies of great financial breakthroughs were shared, and stories of academic excellence inspired many, reinforcing the power of God at work in their lives.
Artists and Entertainment
The event featured an array of stirring gospel performances by renowned artists, that captivated the audience with soul-stirring melodies and uplifting lyrics, encouraging the crowd to join in praise of God.
In addition to the musical acts, cultural dance groups from the eastern, northern, western, and central regions of Uganda showcased their heritage through vibrant and energetic performances. Each group brought its unique flavor to the stage, highlighting the diverse cultural tapestry of the nation.
The worship team led the congregation in soulful praise and worship, transforming the event into a dynamic and heartfelt spiritual experience. Their harmonious voices fostered an atmosphere of reverence and joy, allowing congregation to connect deeply with the divine presence.
Teaching
The General Overseer of Holy City Entebbe, Bro. Ronnie Makabai delivered a powerful sermon on the theme “Kingdom of God Arise and Shine,” emphasizing the need to restore the kingdom of God in Uganda. He warned against the dangers of witchcraft, describing it as a force of destruction and rebellion against God. He urged Ugandans to turn away from these practices and return to worshiping the one true King, Jesus Christ. His message was clear: God loves Uganda and desires its people to live in faith and righteousness, “Uganda Repent and return to God.”
In a unified act of devotion, Bro. Ronnie Makabai led the congregation into prayer and repentance for the nation. This collective plea for forgiveness and divine guidance was a poignant moment, symbolizing a renewed commitment to the one true God.
Fireworks and Jubilations
The night culminated in a spectacular display of fireworks and jubilations that dazzled the crowd and brightened the sky. Dancing and singing filled the air as the faithful celebrated their spiritual renewal and the hope for a better future.
The Kingdom of God Arise and Shine event was a powerful reminder of Uganda’s enduring faith and the potential for national transformation through repentance and devotion. We as Bro. Ronnie Ministries say no to witchcraft.
